Walter Whitworth Anderson was born in Leeds in 1863. He moved to Australia. In 1893 he became manager of Eagle and Globe Steel Co. Ltd, a small business, but under his charge it grew to become known Empire wide. Being an associate company of Arthur Balfour and Co Ltd of Sheffield, Mr Anderson made frequent visits to England and to Johannesburg, to reconstruct the company's business there. He was a member of the Council of the Australian Association of British Manufacturers, and former President of the New South Wales branch. Also a Foundation member of the Avondale Golf Club. he was married, with 2 sons and 5 daughters. He died at Chatswood, Sydney, Australia, in 1933, age 70.
